Miss Omaha Douglas County
Scholarship Program
Since 1921 the Miss America Organization has operated with a mission of female empowerment. Today the Miss America Organization aims at empowering young women across the country to achieve their full potential through leadership, talent, communication skills and academics. The Miss America Organization operates in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia and is the largest provider of college scholarships to young women in the world.
Founded by Marianne Grubaugh in 1988, the Miss Omaha Miss Douglas County Scholarship Program has been providing young women with the opportunity to pursue their educational goals through scholarship for over 30 years. We have helped prepare 70 local titleholders for the Miss Nebraska stage and are proud to have had 13 titleholders take home the title of Miss Nebraska and compete on the Miss America stage, more than any other local competition in the state.

In 2005, we began the Miss Omaha & Miss Douglas County's Teen program and have since helped 30 titleholders prepare for the Miss Nebraska's Outstanding Teen competition, 7 of which have taken home the title of Miss Nebraska's Teen and advanced to compete at the Miss America's Teen Competition.

Our organization is entirely made up of volunteers: we are formers, parents and friends of past candidates along with talented individuals who truly believe in the Miss America Organization. Our goal is to be a strong advocate for all our candidates helping them to learn valuable lessons during the competition so they are ready to achieve their life goals. As we look back on our 30+ years of success, we are in awe of the many talented young women and dedicated volunteers and supporters who continue to perpetuate the success of our local program.

In 2018 we solidified a partnership with the Midlands Community Foundation and established the Miss Omaha Scholarship Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity that enables us to solicit tax-deductible donations and expand our cash scholarship award offerings.

We are a subsidiary of the Miss Nebraska Scholarship Program and Miss America Organization and follow the rules, regulations and guidelines set forth therein.
